| After
a very wet summer in 2000, we were promised a spectacular fall, full
of colour. Over twelve days, the leaves turned from
green to vibrant reds, golds, and yellows not seen in this
part of Ontario for several years. While walking my dog,
Juno, I was overwhelmed by this beauty. For 3 days
around the Avon River, a tributary of the Thames; the light,
change and reflections took my breath away. These
reflections planted the seed for the theme of an exhibit of my
work; in oils, photography and perhaps print. As the
seasons changed, I became more entranced by the beauty of the
area, and to this day, continue finding exciting subject
matter for my art. Some pieces have ventured into the
mixed medium form, and through this process, my colours have
changed from the totally vibrant clear paints to more subdued
tones. The oils, while always painted with a large
palette knife, now have some brush work used in the
applications. |
